The Pilates Method, created over 80 years ago by Joseph H. Pilates, is a form of isometric exercises developed and practiced to simultaneously stretch, strengthen, and align the body, while eliminating excess tension and strain on the joints. It is a method of exercise that improves muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength, and tone through physical and mental conditioning.

 

Pilates is a full-body conditioning program of approximately 500 designated movements performed on a mat or specific apparatus. Once the body is trained to work as a single integrated unit, it becomes better aligned and balanced, which increases the efficiency of movement. It is often used to rehabilitate injuries, making it popular with athletes, dancers, and anyone who wants to develop their physique and potential.
